What To Expect..
Pet Surgery at ABMC.
To us, animal surgery is just as important as surgical procedures performed on humans, so should you have any questions, you are free to call our vet clinic in Palm harbor to speak with a veterinary staff member about the procedure and follow-up care.
The following is a brief walkthrough of a typical surgery process.
1.
Arrival – Upon arrival for surgery at our vet clinic, we'll check-in your pet and get their weight before the procedure.
2.
Preparation – At this time, our vet staff may conduct an Ultrasound, perform Bloodwork* and insert an Intravenous Catheter that will provide medication and liquids to your pet while they are undergoing surgery.
*Bloodwork is checked to screen for any anomalies that may cause a complication from use of Anesthesia.
3.
Monitoring – While your pet is undergoing surgery, their vitals will be continuously monitored by the same type of medical monitoring systems used on humans, such as: Pulse Oximetry, Dinamap Blood Pressure Monitoring, EKG, Temperature Monitoring; additionally, our pet surgical suite features an ADS Computer-Assisted Breathing machine.
Following your pet’s surgery, our veterinarian and the staff will provide you with all of the necessary information for helping your pet through the healing process.
You will receive your pet’s pain medications at this time, and we may also schedule a follow-up appointment for a later date to ensure all incisions have healed properly.

ELLMAN RADIOSURGICAL UNIT
An Ellman radio-surgical unit allows for precise micro-surgical procedures on birds as small as parakeets.
ENDOSCOPY VIDEOSCOPE
We also have a complete Olympus Videoscope for Endoscopy to diagnose esophageal disease, stomach disease and obstructions as well as colon disease.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY SUITE
For orthopedic surgery, we have a complete orthopedic suite with all of the same Hall’s hand pieces that are used in human hospitals.
STATE-OF-THE-ART ULTRASOUND
We have a state-of-the-art Siemans Ultrasound for both abdominal ultrasound and echo-cardiology.
